Drogarati’s cave is 3 km away from Sami and located in the area of the village Haliotata, and at 120 m altitude. It was discovered when a big earthquake destroyed a part of it and created the current entryway. Its depth is 95 m and temperature 18 ο C while it is considered to be 2.000.000 years old. It is one of the best caves in Greece thanks to the size of its hall and its special acoustic. The cave is full of stalactites and stalagmites which need approximately 100 years to grow just a cm. The part which is open today is only a small part of the hole since it is believed that the cave meets other caves of the island. Drogarati is accessible al year and the island’s peoplemake the best tours for the visitors.
